Ratings
The Jar uses DUPR — the world's most accurate pickleball rating system and the official rating system of the National Pickleball League (NPL) — to power all of our competitive programming.
DUPR (Dynamic Universal Pickleball Rating) is the global standard for pickleball player ratings. Created by pickleball pioneer Steve Kuhn, DUPR uses a modified Elo algorithm to assign every player a rating between 2.000 and 8.000 based on actual match results — not self-assessment.
Unlike older rating systems, DUPR is dynamic — your rating updates after every match, reflecting your current level of play. It factors in your opponent's rating, the score differential, and the match type to produce the most accurate picture of where you sit.
The National Pickleball League (NPL) has partnered with DUPR since 2024, and in 2026 announced a landmark 3-year partnership making it the official rating system across all NPL competitions, venues, and platforms in Australia.
DUPR is trusted by the world's premier tours (APP, NPL) and used by over 3 million players globally. As an NPL venue, every rated match you play at The Jar feeds directly into the DUPR system.
Jar Members benefit: As part of the NPL × DUPR partnership, Jar Members receive discounted access to DUPR premium features. Check with the club for current member pricing.
